Research

We employ both quantitative and qualitative research methods, building vivid portraits of rural health access issues in America to amplify patient voices and generate evidence-based policy recommendations.

Narrative Medicine

Through semi-structured, long-form patient interviews, we seek to shed light on the real stories behind demographic data, highlighting the circumstances that bring people to RAM clinics and the themes that characterize the RAM patient experience at the individual level.

Future Work: Demographic Analysis

By studying the demographics of the RAM patient population--as well as shifting trends caused by COVID-19--we hope to generate insight into the patient population that falls through the cracks of the healthcare system and turns to RAM’s free services as their best or only alternative for care. A county-level comparative analysis may help identify structural inequalities in healthcare access.

In Spring 2021, we obtained a $5000 grant from the Bass Connections Student Research Award to conduct our research. See the press release here
